Clare Lauer is a compassionate and engaging therapist who specializes in working with children, teens, and families. Her approach is person-centered and strength-based, grounded in the belief that self-awareness, self-compassion, and a positive mindset can help foster resilience and meaningful personal growth. Clare tailors each session to fit the unique needs of her clients, using evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Parent Management Training (PMT) among others.

Education and Work Experience
Clare holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan, where she focused on mental health and interpersonal practice and earned a certificate in Jewish Communal Leadership. She completed her undergraduate studies in psychology and French at Lawrence University. Clare brings a wide range of experience to her work, from supporting children in international classrooms and local preschools to providing therapy for young people with anxiety, ADHD, autism, and those who identify as LGBTQIA+. Most recently, she completed a two-year post-MSW clinical fellowship at the University Center for the Child and Family at the Mary A. Rackham Institute, offering therapy to children and adolescents ages 3–18 and their families.

Interesting Facts
Outside of the therapy room, Clare enjoys swimming in Michigan’s lakes, hiking scenic trails, gardening, and cheering on her favorite local sports teams. These passions for nature, movement, and community reflect the same values she brings into her therapy practice: curiosity, connection, and the joy of personal growth.
