Rebekah Lauer, LMSW, offers a compassionate, person-centered, and strength-based approach to therapy. She works collaboratively with clients to create a supportive space for healing, growth, and self-discovery. Her approach is tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals, drawing from evidence-based and holistic methods, including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – To help identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques – To support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness
- Mindfulness practices – To increase present-moment awareness and reduce stress
- Holistic interventions – To consider the whole person, including emotional, physical, and relational well-being
Rebekah is passionate about working with people who want to better understand and explore their sexuality in developmentally appropriate ways, particularly people finding their way back from trauma. She is especially committed to supporting individuals as they reconnect with their authentic selves in ways that align with their personal growth and life stage. Her practice is inclusive and LGBTQIA+ affirming, and she works with clients across the lifespan—from young children to older adults.
Education & Work Experience
Rebekah earned her Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Women’s Studies from Knox College and her Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, where she focused on mental health with a specialization in sexual health and education. She is currently completing her certification as an AASECT Sex Educator.
Rebekah’s clinical experience includes providing school-based therapy to K–12 students in St. Louis, Missouri, where she worked closely with children, teens, and their families. She also worked as a therapist at Webster University’s Student Counseling and Life Development Department, supporting individuals aged 18 to 65. Her experience working across different settings and developmental stages informs her holistic, age-appropriate therapeutic style.

Interesting Facts
Outside of the therapy room, Rebekah enjoys hiking on Michigan trails, watching movies, baking, and making pottery. These activities help Rebekah stay centered and remind her how important it is to stay connected, try new things, and take care of herself—things she also encourages her clients to do.
